How Eurosimo works
What you’ll do, in order, from choosing a plan to using data abroad.
Step by step
Choose a destination and a plan
Search for the country or region you’re going to. Each plan shows how much data it has, how many days it lasts and its full price in the currency you choose: euros or dollars.
Sign in with a code
We email you a 6-digit code to type in, or you continue with Apple or Google. There’s no password. If you’re new here, signing in creates your account.
Pay by card
Checkout opens a payment form run by Flitt, the company that handles our card payments. Your card details go to Flitt, not to us.
Get your eSIM from your order page
After paying, you come back to your order page. It shows how your order is going, and your QR code appears there once the eSIM is ready. You can open the order again later from your account.
Install your eSIM
Check your plan’s start rule, then install using reliable Wi-Fi. On an iPhone with iOS 17.4 or later, open your order page on it and press “Install on this phone”. On Android, paste the code from your order page into the SIM settings. Otherwise, scan the QR code from another screen.
Switch it on when you land
Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line and choose it for mobile data. If your phone keeps both lines on at once, your usual number still works for calls and texts.
What you need
A phone that supports eSIM
It must also be unlocked, which means the carrier that sold it hasn’t tied it to its own network. Not every phone supports eSIM, so check yours before you buy a plan.
Check your phoneFor buying and installing
- An email address you can open, for your sign-in code.
- A bank card to pay with.
- An internet connection while you install. Home Wi-Fi is best, because airport Wi-Fi isn’t always reliable.
Using eSIM for the first time
An eSIM is a SIM built into your phone. You add a plan to it by scanning a code, so there’s no card to put in.
What is an eSIM?When your plan starts counting
Plans can start at purchase, installation, or first connection to a covered network. Your plan details show which rule applies.
On your first connection at the destination
For a first-connection plan, the days start when the eSIM connects to a covered network, rather than when you buy or install it. Check the plan’s coverage before switching it on.
When you buy it
The days start counting from the moment you buy, whether or not the eSIM is installed. These plans are labelled “Starts when you buy”, so buy one of them shortly before you need it.
Installing it
On an iPhone with iOS 17.4 or later, your order page also shows “Install on this phone”. It opens the iPhone’s own eSIM setup with the details filled in. On Android, you paste the code from the page into the SIM settings, as the steps below say. The page shows the QR code too. Scan it from a different screen, because a phone can’t scan a code shown on its own screen.
On an iPhone
- Open Settings, then Mobile Service. On some iPhones it’s called Cellular.
- Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
- Scan the code, or tap Enter Details Manually and paste the SM-DP+ address and the activation code.
On Android
- Open Settings, then Network & internet or Connections.
- Open SIMs or SIM manager, and choose to add an eSIM.
- Choose Enter activation code or Use a code, and paste the full code.
Menu names differ a little between phone makers. If your phone asks for two fields, paste the SM-DP+ address and the activation code. To install from another screen, scan the QR code at step 3 instead.
Without scanning
Your order page also lists the SM-DP+ address and the activation code. Copy them on the phone you’re installing on and paste them in. An iPhone asks for the two separately, and Android for the full code in one line.
Once the eSIM is on your phone, don’t delete it until you’ve finished with the plan. Its code works only once, so an eSIM you remove can’t be installed again from your order page.
Common questions
Do I keep my own number?
Yes, if your phone keeps both lines on at once. The eSIM is a second line for data, with no phone number of its own. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and your own carrier’s prices for using it abroad still apply. Some phones keep only one line on at a time. On those, switching to the eSIM turns your usual number off until you switch back.
Can I install the eSIM before I travel?
It depends on your plan’s start rule. A first-connection plan can be installed before you travel. A plan that starts on installation begins counting straight away, so install it close to when you will use it. A purchase-start plan begins counting when you buy.
What happens when the data runs out?
On a fixed-data plan, the data stops when it’s used up, and nothing more is charged. Where your eSIM can take a top-up, “Add data” on its order page and in “My eSIMs” adds data to the same eSIM. Otherwise, buy a new plan. On a daily plan, each day’s data renews the next day, and until then the plan slows down or stops, as its plan details say.
Where do I find my QR code later?
On your order page, which you can open from your account. Once a phone has downloaded the eSIM, its code has been used and the page stops showing it.
Which currency do I pay in?
Euros or dollars, whichever you choose before paying. The price you see at checkout is what you pay us, though your bank may add its own charge.
